Anyone have sound working on Miata?

Has anyone gotten the build-in sound hardware on the Miata (PWS 500a) to
work? I've tried the intructions available and they do not work.
'modprobe opl3 io-0x388' suceeds; 'sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1 dma16=5
mpu_io=0x330' with these errors:

/lib/modules/2.2.16/misc/sb.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including
invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.2.16/misc/sb.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.16/misc/sb.o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.16/misc/sb.o: insmod sb failed

I am using Woody with kernel 2.2.16 (custom-compiled), as you can see. I am
not at all sure that the machine actually is a Miata (though it clearly says
'Personal Workstation 500a' on the box and is running PWS500au SRM firmware)
because compiling a kernel with CONFIG_ALPHA_MIATA=y produces a kernel that
does not boot.
