that's what I get on stderr. the message is:
getsvc: stat of /etc/svc.conf failed
getsvc: stat failed: Function not implemented
over and over. /etc/stderr is there with the hosts=local,bind
line in. The 'stat' thing makes me think it doesn' get to the
hosts line at all, however.
