  I use a Symbios C875 UW controller. This proves to be a very stable card.
  The kernel support is also good. There is a cheaper variant of this card
  available (Tekram 390F IIRC, not the F!). This is the same chipset/driver,
  only a cheaper card. There are some other good cards for Alpha with good
  kernel support, but for those names you can best search the axp-list
  archives. I believe there is a link on alphalinux.org somewhere.
  My drive is a QUANTUM ATLAS IV 9 WLS. This is a nice drive (U2W) and I have
  nothing to complain about the combo. They are rock solid! I have no
  experience with other hw so this is all the advise I can give you :-)
