Debian booting on Alpha

I'm trying to boot and Alpha Server 1000A 4/266 (noritake) with Debian
GNU/Linux 2.1.

It appears that, following the instruction found at
<ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/dists/slink/main/disks-alpha/README>
I can't achieve this.

A couple of comments about this doc:

Step 2c) you talk about installing on several architecture using
SRM and no MILO. You forgot to mention the "noritake" hardware
that IMHO fall into this group. Step 5) confirm this and other
doc like 
<ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/dists/slink/main/disks-alpha/1999-03-05/install.txt>
tells that "noritake" falls into the SRM/no_milo category.
