mixing a 3.5" model and a 2.5" model in one system is asking for troubles...

The 2.5" uses a special cable (it also draws it power from the same flat 
SCSI cable), the 3.5" a standard SCSI 2 narrow cable.

As for now, I suggest you look for an external box to hook up another disk.
