Actually for the XLT machine you need to use the Alcor rescue disks.
Could you try that and tell us if it works?

P.S.:
A brief note on the arch naming for the installation disks: I named
them by the System type option used to build the kernel, the mapping
between machines and names could be infered by looking for the
kernel-image type in the MILO-systypes files on gatekeeper.
