I am Spaarsh Thakkar[1], a GSoC'25[2] contributor under the mentorship
of Cordell Bloor[3](cc'd). I am an undergraduate student, pursuing a
degree in Computer Science Engineering.
I’d like to briefly introduce my GSoC project and the work I plan to do.
My planned work falls into two categories:
1. Packaging ROCm libraries for debian
2. Enabling ROCm support in existing debian packages
As part of the second category, I plan to enable ROCm support in Gloo[4] - which I understand is maintained by the Deep Learning team (within Debian AI's broader team). I am eager to coordinate with the team for feedback and ensure that my work aligns well with the team's goals.
As part of the first category, I will be working on packaging
hipblas-common-6.4.0[5] and hipBLASLt[6] for debian. Since these
packages are part of the AMD ROCm ecosystem, I hope to work closely with the Debian
ROCm team and welcome any suggestions and feedback. I would also like to request to be added to the Debian ROCm team on Salsa, if appropriate. Please let me know if there's a formal process or additional steps required. My salsa account username is Spaarsh[1].
I shall file an Intent To Package (ITP) bug for the hipblas-common-6.4.0[5] package soon.
Additionally, I also plan to enable ROCm support in DBCSR[7] and CP2K[8].
I look forward to learning new things in the process and making meaningful contributions to the community.
Regards,
Spaarsh Thakkar
