I saw your response, but I wanted to investigate further before I responded. After experimenting more with hipify-clang, I have concluded that you were absolutely right in your assessment. The functionality available without the nvidia toolkit installed is even more limited than I thought.

I would've pushed that change to https://salsa.debian.org/rocm-team/hipify myself and uploaded except that I'm not a team member. Who can approve team join requests?
