Re: Sound card not detected by the incoming Debian installer for Debian 10

Hello,

If that help I will check tomorrow in which alpha release this message
appeared.

That could help indeed.

debian-buster-DI-alpha4-amd64-netinst.iso works as expected:
espeakup is started and speech works.

debian-buster-DI-alpha5-amd64-netinst.iso instead doesn't: espeakup is
running but no speech is heard. If I kill it then start it again, same
issue.

I have uploaded files that could help investigate the issue in:
http://slint.fr/testing/debian/

This includes output of lsmod, dmesg and uname -a for both, as well as
most of the useful files in the running installers. /dev, /proc, /sys,
/root, /cdrom (mounted), /tmp, and /var/cache are excluded.

Of course there has been a kernel change between alpha4 and alpha5:
didier[/tmp]$ cat uname-a*
Linux (none) 4.18.0-3-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.18.20-2 (2018-11-23) x86_64 GNU/Linux
Linux (none) 4.19.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.12-1 (2018-12-22) x86_64 GNU/Linux
didier[/tmp]$

Something looks weird. As expected:
didier[/tmp]$ cat initrd_debian_a4/var/run/espeakup.card
0

But:
didier[/tmp]$ cat initrd_debian_a5/var/run/espeakup.card
bin dev etc init initrd lib lib64 media mnt proc root run sbin sys tmp usr var
didier[/tmp]$

Best,

Didier
