I want to install Debian using the accessible text installation process, but the net install ISO evidently is trying to use the bad sound card. Is there a way to change to the USB sound card by going into one of the other consoles and if so what command do I use?

Just FTR, next release of Debian (Stretch) will try the various sound
boards.
