It seems that the debian package needs serious work for beeing useful in
the next stable release :-(.
when fixing the pthread problem in 0.7, it will not work with
consolescreenreaders!
Sorry i forgot: that is not recommended to run it in system wide mode.
When you revert to 0.6 we will get a speechd with broken
audiooutputdrivers.
Best way would be to build a new package from 0.7.1 (please build also
libao support).
that is the problem I guess for squeeze.
Libao support was not build into debian speechd package which is really
bad because it contains the most stable audio-output when using alsa, oss etc.
The native alsa code of speechd is known to segfault from time to time.
I think that was it with stable sd in squeeze :-( :-(.
