Bug#970205: pmix: Please avoid pandoc in Build-Depends for arch:any
Source: pmix
Severity: important

Hi!
pmix currently has pandoc in Build-Depends which causes the package to
be BD-Uninstallable on a number of architectures.
The reason for this is that pandoc requires a very long list of Haskell
dependencies before it can be built which means that a package that
Build-Depends on pandoc will end up very late in the build queue when
bootstrapping on a new architecture.
Since pmix is apparently required for openmpi and openmpi is used by many
other packages, it would be nice if src:pmix could be modified such that
pandoc is used for Build-Depends-Indep only, i.e. only for building the
arch:all packages which makes more sense anyway since pandoc generates
documentation which is usually architecture-independent.
Could you modify src:pmix such that pandoc is not required for binary-arch
builds?
Thanks,
Adrian
