It does? That would be interesting as a workaround for the time being.

Well, of course, I'm not for removing the old drivers before the pata
drivers have reached feature equality. But, I would very much like to
encourage the porting and I will try to help as soon as I am done with
all changes to debian-installer and openjdk that I still have in my
current queue.
