Of course it would. Like this, working is not possible. I stopped
doing anything except processing buildd mails. Not at all possible.

I just bindmount /srv/chroot/apt-lists to /var/lib/apt/lists and
/srv/chroot/apt-cache to /var/cache/apt so the packages are never
removed and the apt-get update that is always run only takes less
than a minute except four times a day max.

You’d best ask an expert in the MTA you’re using (which is…?).
