I do
a) wget pari.math.u-bordeaux.fr/pub/pari/unix/pari.tgz 2>&1 | tee log
b) wget pari.math.u-bordeaux.fr/pub/pari/unix/pari.tgz
c) wget -q pari.math.u-bordeaux.fr/pub/pari/unix/pari.tgz
a) is much faster than b) and c) but still twice slower that with linux-2.4.27,
so it seems printing stuff actually make the network faster. Typing
stuff on the keyboard also make b) and c) faster.
linux-2.4.27 had a similar problem, so I run 'ping aranym' from the host
and this help a lot (the ping packet seems to waken the network).
