Petr,

My recasing is amateur as well.  My ethernec cable is the longer than
the one that comes with it standard.   The length of an IDE cable or so,
in fact I think I used an IDE cable I bought from jameco with the second
end cut off.  My machine is bus clocked at 25MHz.  So all of your
reasons shouldn't be to blame.  What kind of real Ne2K card do you have?
Mine is an RTL8019 I believe.  Mine is working well, for days at a time
with a buildd running now.  There's some race conditions or something
that Michael is working on.
