Vaporware are always faster, unless you point to me a qemu version that
boot linux-m68k!

Here the results for qemu-arm (syscall emulation).

                   MPQS      galois
aranym-amd64      67,260 ms.  31,080 ms
qemuarm-i386       1,714 ms      776 ms
