Hi,
I've got Debian Sarge installed on my Atari Falcon030 with a CT60 accelerator card (provides MC68060 at 66MHz, SDRAM 512MB).
Next I wanted to get X11 to run on the Falcon builtin video device (Videl).
Now I understand from previous posted messages on this mailing list (mostly about Amigas, using the builtin video) that Xfree 3.3.6 will work but Xfree 4.x probably not. I installed Xfree 4 first, but that gave the infamous "Unresolved symbols" errors when the server tries to load modules (I've read that this happens only on a MC68060).
Then I installed Xfree 3 by extracting the server from xserver-fbdev_3.3.6-11potato32.deb, placing it in /usr/X11R6/bin and then linking /etc/X to it (as I learnt from a previous posting). That worked for me, only when I tried to load Gtk-applications like GIMP or FreeCiv, then colours of the logo and loaded graphics files are unrecognizably distorted.
Finally I installed the debugging version of Xfree 4, that indeed helped to get rid of the "unresolved symbols" error seen with the normal Xfree 4 version. However, the server still fails with a message:
"FBDEV(0): interleaved planes are not yet supported by the fbdev driver [1]
Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration."
It seems to try to start an interlaced video mode, although I have not specified interlaced modes in the Xfree86Config-4 file.
Any ideas how to advance from here?
I have attached the Xfree-debug logfile below.
kind regards,
Dennis
