Just to avoid duplicate effort. - I've started a test build with
gcc-2.95 on m68k (arrakis) about two hours ago.

PS: Is there really no other way to force using gcc-2.95 than adding
'-Dcc=gcc-2.95 -Dcpp=cpp-2.95' to debian/config.debian?
