Well, I hadn't looked it up before, but you're not quite right (close!):

7.6 should work... in fact I can run 7.6.1 on my IIci, though 7.1.1 is
really more appropriate. Well, Linux would be more appropriate if I 
could get it to run reliably off my external SCSI drive :-)
