mk68 port debian 2.2 vs. linux/m68k

I was looking for a port of Linux to the M680X0 processor.  I came
upon the Debian and  linux/m68k distributions.  Are these two separate
efforts, if not how are they related?  The Debian dist. 2.2 appears to be
based on the linux/m68k  release, yet I can download a release of
linux/m68k.

If they are separate, what are some of significant differences
between the two efforts?  They both appear to have a stable
port to the M680X0 processor.


I'm trying to decide whether to obtain the Debian 2.2 release or
use the linux/m68k release.
