The kernel on the Debian Potato 2.2 disks does not support the Mace
Ethernet. In fact MACE Ethernet was only recently fixed. Try either
the 2.2.17 or 2.2.18 kernels from the Source Forge website:

For 2.2.18

http://download.sourceforge.net/linux-mac68k/vmlinux-2.2.18-20010105.gz
http://download.sourceforge.net/linux-mac68k/modules-2.2.18-20010105.tar.gz

For 2.2.17:

ftp://linux-mac68k.sourceforge.net/pub/linux-mac68k/kernels/andrew/vmlinux-2.2.17-112900.gz
ftp://linux-mac68k.sourceforge.net/pub/linux-mac68k/kernels/andrew/modules-2.2.17-112900.tar.gz

Either one of these kernels should have working MACE ethernet drivers.
