Probably, but I think Debian use 2.7.2, so I did too.  For a long time
2.7.2 was the only approved gcc for kernel building - don't know if that
is still the case.

Jes has not released anything beyond 2.2.10 (in the 2.2 series), and
2.2.10 is the most up to date patch for m68k in potato.  Mac guys may
have 2.2.14 patches, I think, but I've no idea how good they would be
on non-mac 68k h/w.

I just booted 2.4.0-test6 on my MVME166 :-)
