I think this is situation specific. I've succesfully used DHCP on apowerpc 6500 mac from the boot floppies before. It continued to workafter the instalation process was finished. This might have becomebroken though. I was using old boot floppies(2.2.8).

If further investigation is needed I can set up a simple DHCPserver(gotta love point and click routing *g* IPNetRouter) and dosome testing on my LAN, but this is a pain in the but.

I don't know anything about DHCP, if you think this is a generic problem and
not limited to m68k, please report it to debian-boot.
