debian on quadra - almost where I want to be

HI.

I have a couple of questions,,,

I have downloaded a lot of good stuff like windowmaker
and apache/php.
I am downloading onto a 3400 and can write to a cd.
I can put files on the hfs volume, 

how can I install all the goodies from within linux
once it is in the hfs volume?

the other question is that I have a 14.4 modem I can
use with the machine - what software would I use to
init the modem, (i did config ppp)??
