Blue and white, eh?
Are you starting at a monochrome video mode (in macos), or is the colors
just wrong because you haven't checked 'Penguin colors' in the booter?
You need a late XF68_FBDev server, (3.3.3.1 or the one from slink), and a
8bpp subsection in /etc/X11/XF86Config. See manpage for XF86Config. The mode
list should contain one mode, "default".
Also, look in the server output for clues to what could be wrong.
startx >& /tmp/xlog.out
<kill X>
more /tmp/xlog.out
And get a newer kernel! (as suggested earlier)

But.....the color is B&W(not black and white but Blue and White
like G3-Mac :-/ )
This may be able to fix even "newbie" like me...
