Base Install Bugs?

Hello,

I think these items are bugs, but I don't know how they should be
specified. If someone would like to assist me submitting them correctly, I
will enter them, or someone else can. I am also looking for advice on how
to fix these things.

My config is a MacIIsi, 17/40+240, color monitor, extended keyboard and mouse.

First, when I use dselect and select the FTP method, I get the following:

Can't locate loadable object for module IO in @INC (@INC contains:
/usr/lib/perl5/m68k-linux/5.004 /usr/lib/perl5
/usr/local/lib/site_perl/m68k-linux /usr/local/lib/site_perl/ .) at
/usr/lib/perl5/m68k-linux/5.004/IO/Handle.pm line 248
  BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at
/usr/lib/perl5/m68k-linux/5.004/IO/Socket.pm line 117
  BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/lib/perl5/Net/FTP.pm line 18.
  BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/lib/dpkg//methods/ftp/setup line 7.

query/setup script returned error exit status 2.
  Press RETURN to continue.

I don't know if it's just depending on the real perl package or not. I got
a new Packages.gz and found that the dpkg-ftp_1.4.9.6.deb and
libnet-perl_1.0502-1.deb needed to be upgraded (immediately after clean
base install), and libstdc++2.8_2.90.29-0.5.deb was also required base, so
I FTPd these down, thinking that if I upgraded these parts things would be
OK. So I try to select these in dselect. I get the following package
dependencies:

bsdutils recommends bsdmainutils, but it's not available
  perl-base is listed
procps recommends psmisc but it's not available
netbase recommends netstd but it's not available
perl depends on perl-base, suggests perl-suid and suggests perl-debug

I believe I should still be able to install with a Q command and go on my
merry way. Unfortunately when I tried to install perl_5.004.04-6.deb, I
get the following error:
error setting ownership of symlink `usr/man/man1/pod2text.1p.gz': no such
file or directory
dpkg-deb - subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)

This prevents me from finishing the install. dpkg-ftp and
libnet-perl_1.0502-1.deb install OK, but I can't configure them without
perl_5.004.04-06.deb. libnet-perl depends on perl, but it says it's not
installed, so it leaves it unconfigured. I guess dpkg-ftp depends on
libnet-perl, so it leaves this unconfigured as well.

Second, zless is installed, but when I use it, I get "/usr/bin/zless: less:
command not found". less is not installed. Should this be a bug against
base for the less or zless file?

Any help provided will be most appreciated.

Regards,
