Again, I do have four such adaptors - Two of them should work readily
(VGA to HDMI dongles), and two should work with a MiniHDMI to HDMI
adaptor. If they are useful, I can take them with me. I won't be
during the plenary session days, but can lend them for all of the rest
of the conference time.

Just thinking that I have done this mistake with the names and formats before, your adapters are HDMI to VGA [1] or DVI to VGA [2]? price changes and the former one requires a DA converter (and power)  and the later only a rewiring of cables. But if you had the HDMI- required great!
