During the Friday, June 18th meeting with CRF (Columbia Computer
Sciences school's IT department (for those v-t members Cc:ed who don't
know already )) we found out they (CRF) have their own PA speakers +
power amp. That system was set up in Davis for another event while we
were there, so I was able to take a look at it. It should be entirely
adequate for our needs, so no need to rent anything else.

There are some speakers mounted on the walls in the 2nd talk room
(interschool lab). Earlier investigations showed some options for
getting a signal into them from our mixer, but if memory serves we'll
probably need some converter boxes (d-i or similar) for that as I don't
recall there being balanced inputs. I'll try to get my notes and
pictures collected and published before Tuesday's videoteam meeting.

I committed to making another pre-debcamp trip up to NYC in July with
the machines I'll be putting together. The exact dates of this trip are
not yet set.

Further note: 3 1 TB drives are on their way to me from .eu from past
DebConfs. So, I'll probably add a 4th of my own to those for building
barney, now. (instead of using my 750GB drives for that)

As noted in the meeting notes from Friday's venue visit, we can probably
avoid having to do this. On the afforementioned trip we'll set up some
throughput tests between the "coffee room" (where are servers will live)
and the talk rooms. These will be for both live dvswitch streams to the
stream encoders and bulk file transfer tests for breaktime/overnight
transfers.
