However people feel about this, one thing that is possible now is to
send some communication to the wider community, even if registration is
not yet open, to let them know about the things that are already set in
stone (e.g. dates, possible sleeping arrangements)

Then people who are not compatible with those options don't have to wait
for registrations before making their own private plans.
