[Debconf-team] MT and FdS visit

Hola,

<h01ger> we visited francisco de sande today
<h01ger> its located in the beautiful old city
<h01ger> has 76 beds
<h01ger> 35 double rooms, 6 single
<h01ger> we'll be able to use 72 of them
<h01ger> every room has ethernet and power
<h01ger> toilets and showers are shared, extra room on the corridor
<Noodles> Which 72?
<h01ger> thick walls, cool without aircondition
<Noodles> (ie only 2 single, or all 6 single?)
<h01ger> i think all 6 single
<h01ger> we might als use 76
<h01ger> we might also use 76
<h01ger> it was 100% sure yet
<Noodles> Ok.
* Noodles makes notes for future reference.
<Noodles> Did you get the split of rooms in MT?
<Noodles> I have 140 beds available to us in 70 twin rooms noted down, but I
think that was from the wiki from a while back.
<h01ger> we'll go to muniz torrero in 2h, its too hot now
<Noodles> Great.
<gwolf> and why 72? What happens to the 4 missing?
<h01ger> its not that hot, but after walking some hours in the sun and having
lunch, we wanted a rest
<h01ger> gwolf, yo que se
<gwolf> heh
<h01ger> (what do i know)
* gwolf is not exactly thrilled with a 40°C prospect
<h01ger> in CCMI its totally fine
<h01ger> just dont go out. shouldnt be that hard for most nerds
<h01ger> and visit the old inner city at night, its beautiful lid and the
temperatures are bearable
<Noodles> I plan to be a ginger geek with a tan by the end.
<gwolf> this is a nerd who enjoys biking around :) So I'll leave early for
CCMI in any case... and come back late. Of course, I still have to buy the
damned bike, but...
<gwolf> h01ger: Question: For DebCamp... It will be in MT, right?
<h01ger> yes
<gwolf> We will need air conditioning? I guess so...
<h01ger> i think so too, will be there later :)
<gwolf> oki
<h01ger> it probably has, we are not the first people who would like some
cooling :)
<h01ger> the idea is to finally decide on the locations in the global team
meeting on monday
<h01ger> MrBeige, which discussion about what?
<h01ger> 6 dsl lines for MT for debcamp and when its an accomodation venue
should be enough?
<h01ger> "enough" :)
<schultmc> 6 DSL lines of what capacity?
<Mithrandir> you never have enough bandwidth.
<schultmc> yep

<h01ger> we just visited munez torrero
<h01ger> doing debconf there is definitly possible i think
<MrBeige> yay!
<h01ger> there is a big auditorium with 200 seats, though not even half as
nice as CCMI
<MrBeige> how does it compare to past debconfs ?
<h01ger> and another room of almost the same size, with currently 36 chairs,
but we can add 100 more at least
<h01ger> its a venue located directly in the city
<h01ger> 5min to 3 swimming poolls
<h01ger> 10min walk to the old center city
<h01ger> 170 (or howmany that where) are also directly there, other
accomodation places are in walking distance
<h01ger> there is air condition, though maybe we will rent some more
<h01ger> MT is free of charge to use, CCMI costs 13000E
<MrBeige> CCMI would be paid by the Junta, correct ?
<h01ger> CCMI OTOH is definitly the better, more fancy, cooler venue
<MrBeige> would they pay for other things if we used MT ?
<h01ger> MrBeige, no. MT belongs to the junta, so it would be free. CCMI costs
approx 13000E
<h01ger> CCMI will have fibre uplink
<h01ger> MT we will need to hire DSL lines
<MrBeige> yeah
<h01ger> and MT the catering would be easier, as would be in the same place.
anto is not sure if the caterer would "be happy" with having lunch in MT and
dinner at CCMI
<MrBeige> can we use that 13k€ to do that ?
<h01ger> for 13k you get a lot dsl lines. also telefonica wants to sponsor
them anyway
<MrBeige> 13k € is a lot to use to hire what else we need for MT
<h01ger> MrBeige, gwolf, Noodles: are you fine with me posting this to the
list?
<MrBeige> h01ger: definitely do so

<MrBeige> h01ger, have you been looking at
http://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf9/VenueToDo ?
<h01ger> no
<h01ger> me looks
<h01ger> its basically all solved or being solved
* MrBeige hasn't looked in a while, hasn't been updated recently...
<MrBeige> excellent
<MrBeige> http://wiki.debconf.org/wiki/DebConf9/ToDo
<h01ger> debcamp will be at MT and is opne 24/7 basically (as we'll live ther)
<h01ger> there are enough rooms for hacklabs
<MrBeige> what are your thoughts on conf at MT vs CCMI ?
<MrBeige> can you take some pictures of maps of MT ?
<h01ger> i took pics of Fernando something today
<h01ger> cesar will send me pics from ccmi
<MrBeige> I saw the pictures on g.dc.o
<h01ger> yeah
<h01ger> i should go through them and look for the auditoriums
<MrBeige> I didn't recall an actual map
* MrBeige just looked again and didn't see one
<h01ger> MrBeige, i'm undecided what i think is better. on the one hand, MT
will provide the more cosy feeling (we are on our island, where we live, but
can go out in the city easily), OTOH CCMI is more professional, fancy, simply
better, has better uplink (but who cares during talks) and is located 4km
outside the city
<h01ger> https://gallery.debconf.org/v/debconf9/Foto1504.jpg.html and
https://gallery.debconf.org/v/debconf9/Foto1505.jpg.html are the auditorium
with 200 seats
<h01ger> https://gallery.debconf.org/v/debconf9/Foto1496.jpg.html is the
somewhat smaller auditorium. the rooms ia about as big as the other, maybe
even bigger, but as you can see, needs chairs. (thats possible)
<MrBeige> MT doesn't look bad at all
<h01ger> https://gallery.debconf.org/v/debconf9/Foto1489.jpg.html and onward
are all pics from MT

<h01ger> MrBeige, the impression that junta would pay 13k for ccmi is wrong.
atm its still unclear how much money junta will give. MT is their property so
we can have it for free
<MrBeige> ah
<MrBeige> so if we used CCMI, then we would have to add a 13k expense to our
budget, you are saying...
<h01ger> MrBeige, yes

A huge thanks to Anto for his hospitality to me here and for all the work he
is doing for DebConf9!

regards,
	Holger
