[resend; I have only received two translation offers in two months] [we especially need people collecting contacts in the local press] Dear localteam, I am sorry for not writing in Spanish and I hope I don't have to learn it all for our next conference. I've volunteered to be in charge of press issues for Debconf and I would really like to stay clear of the time pressure and related problems we experienced just before and during Edinburgh. In this mail, I would thus like to ask for two things: - Given my basic abilities with the Spanish language, it would be great to have two people fluent in the language to help out or be in charge of the press team. I'll be happy to do the background grunt work and coordination, but the direct press contact should be in the hands of two realiable fluent speakers. - Could *everyone* keep an eye open in the months between now and then for journalists who might be interested in Debconf? If you read an article in the local newspaper or on a Spanish news site, which talks about Linux or OSS, please find out how to contact the author and send his/her contact details along with the article link (or at least newspaper, date, and title) to the debconf-press@lists.debconf.org list. If everyone keeps an eye open, then by the time we get close to the conference, we can easily push out short press announcements to interested parties and don't have to spider the web with little time on our hands.
