Re: Preparation for DebConf26

Hi DebConf team,
how should we prepare our health status for DebConf26?
Santa Fe has a high risk for Dengue and maybe Chikungunya - are there
any mosquitos in July/August? Looking at the map Santa Fe
sourroundings (water! swamp!) seem to be a mosquito paradise - but
maybe not in winter?
Dengue has raeched that latitude during the last few summers, but the
chance of having dengue/chikunguya-bearing mosquitos in July is negligible.
At least for Dengue exists a vaccine - should we prepare to get
vaccinated? According to
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_dengue_epidemic_in_Argentina last
year Santa Fe has had an epidemic and a shortage of prevention and
treatment options.
I remember several pharmacies having stock of the vaccine when I was there
in December. But, again, July is cold, and mosquitos should not be an
issue.
Since repeated vaccinations require a longer time it would be good if
the team could provide medical informations about the local situation
as soon as possible.
Actually, my recommendation would be to try to get COVID and influenza
vaccination, to decrease the risk both of infection and of a bad case of
it. True, getting vaccinated one or two months before travelling would be
best, but it is likely us in the countries in the North will not get
vaccine availability in April-May-June. It is better to be vaccinated
several months ago than just having a years-old one.
Greetings,
-- Gunnar.
