Just as a FYI, in Finland the conductors do carry around specialised
devices that can read all mayor (and some minor) credit cards and
debit cards so you can buy a ticket. They don't support chip though,
so they only read the magnetic stripe. Very much like they do on the
low cost airplanes where you buy food/drinks.
