...And while Debian is usually involved in the process (i.e. we use
some general Debian money for travel sponsorship), we have so far
attempted to keep it to a minimum. In case a DebConf goes over budget,
it would be a real shame to spend Debian's 50K in sponsoring travel,
leaving the project in a tight spot.

(yes, somebody else mentioned the "over 100K figure" is not precisely
correct)
