Usually you can get an approx idea of what a good price is and watch flight
search websites for a couple of weeks until you find a deal. It is quite
common air companies launch some offers in March/April for July/August.
Debconf is usually in high season, if you try to book only 2-3 weeks in
advance (*), you always will get expensive flights and also you risk not
finding flights (yes, this has happened for at least one person this year).
(*) this year's sponsorship was granted very late, I think 2-3 weeks but
I do not remember exaclty the dates anymore...
