Hi,The workaround has to be applied to the unused BD-R _before_ K3b resp. growisofs get to see it.These were unused (brand new) media I attempted to format.Strange. In order to get to the bug, growisofs must have succeeded with formatting. Why did dvd+rw-format not work ? I would be curious to see the message output of such an attempt.
There was no output, at least after the copyrite notice, just a blank line. On BD-RE I get a message indicating the format operation was in process. Result was the same on the Slackware system as well using brand new BD-R media. Both drives are Pioneer models.
The log reports from K3b indicate it was formating the media. I think I do have the option -use-the-force-luke=spare:none in the program options of K3b. Or I may have had =ssa:none. From what I could tell in the source file dvd+rw-format.cpp it should be equivalent. When I reviewed the log file the option was placed at the end of the reported growisofs command. I do recall looking for it and confirming it was there.Whatever: The other possible workaround (except building a fixed growisofs from source), would be to talk K3b into using growisofs option -use-the-force-luke=spare:none In that case, the BD-R would stay unformatted and the final command would be appropriate. I.e. it should succeed and growisofs should end happily. Have a nice day :) Thomas
Performance is not really any better using BD-R either. So I have been considering just using BD-RE media since it appears to be working well.
Thanks once again, James
