This is the reduced info from Read Disk Info.
Either your drive is broken and does not support READ ATIP
or the Linux kernel is rotten.
Get Schillix
ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/schillix/
(an OpenSolaris based Live CD) and try again.
Then you know whether this is caused by the drive or by the Linux Kernel.
