Error when attempting to burn double layer dvd

Hi,

when attempting to burn a double layer dvd using growisofs, I get the
following error:

:-( unable to SEND DVD+R DOUBLE LAYER RECORDING INFORMATION:
Input/output error

I've been unable to find any useful information on the internet, can you
point me in the right direction? I'm using SuSE 9.3,
dvd+rw-tools-5.21.4.10.8-5
