Teac DW-552G, problems with CD-RW recording

Hello,

I have a combo drive Teac DW-552G (revision N4K1). It is able of recording CD-Rs at 52x, CD-RWs at 32x, and *reading-only* DVDs. There are problems with CD-RW recording.

I tried it with Linux kernel 2.4.26 (slackware 9.1/10) and with cdrecord-1.10, 2.00.3, 2.01a32 (this version both with and without dvd-patch), dvdrtools-0.1.5/0.1.6. All system options were set appropriately (at least this setup worked okay with previous drive, Teac CDW-58). I used all available CD-RW media, that is 5" 0/4 speed, 5" 4/10 speed, 3" 4/10 speed.

To begin with, -prcap command doesn't report CD-RW capability and speed at all. It may or may not be connected with warning about 'wrong size for CD capabilities page' constantly given. Peeking into source code, this is about drive decalring size of scsi page 0x2A as 76 bytes and then returning 70 bytes only.

Then, with some versions of cd-/dvdrecord recording *can* actually commence and complete. But the tracks written can't always be mounted *on* *this* *same* drive. Sometimes, only first track is visible, sometimes none at all. Other drive, trivial old CD-ROM, mounts all of these tracks. The drive in question also mounts all recordings from other recorders, and also mounts everything recorded on it with Nero 6.3.*.

Is there anything I could try?

regards,
Yury.
