Not true:
cdrecord _sometimes_ works by accident.
cdrecord never works in RAW mode and never works with Pioneer drives.
A CAM implementation that does not do auto sense is completely broken
and you definitely cannot use such an implementation for something
like cdrecord that implements a high level protocol that only works
if the _expected_ "error" codes are delivered back correctly.
