I'm curious, which revision does your drive have, and do you have
another device present on the bus ?
I have upgraded this machine to 5.2.1-p1 just now, without avail.
I noticed something interresting though.. allthough growisofs complains
that it cannot set the writing speed, it actually does do something:
$ sudo dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/cd0 | grep Current
Current Write Speed: 8.0x1385=11080KB/s
$ growisofs -speed=4 -dvd-compat -Z/dev/cd0=image
Executing 'builtin_dd if=image of=/dev/pass1 obs=32k seek=0'
:-( Failed to change write speed: 8310->5540
$ sudo dvd+rw-mediainfo /dev/cd0 | grep Current
Current Write Speed: 4.0x1385=5540KB/s
It has set the speed to 4.0x. If I then burn without -speed= setting,
my first DVD turns into a coaster.
$ growisofs -dvd-compat -Z/dev/cd0=image
Executing 'builtin_dd if=image of=/dev/pass1 obs=32k seek=0'
/dev/pass1: "Current Write Speed" is 6.1x1385KBps.
