There is talk about the adhesive chemically damaging the optical layer
of disks. This wouldn't happen overnight. AFAIK all longevity statements
for CD-R specifically mandate storage in a dry dark place in jewel case
(or presumably spindle) but not any kind of sleeve and without any
adhesive label.

Please tell us identifiable characteristics of all the problematic
labels you used, in a useful way - "white with 2 a sheet" is about as
useful as answering "what car" with "the blue one on 4 wheels".
