kernel *miserably* failed to communicate with your unit. It most likely
indicates IDE misconfiguration or poor [if any] support for your IDE
controller in Linux kernel. It's hardly application or media problem.
Can you burn CD media? Can you access DVD-ROM media? That's kind of
questions your should ask yourself. A.
