i just wrote.
Today, on 8. Linux-Informationstag Oldenburg, we rsynced ftp.skolelinux.no::cd-edu-testing-nolocal-netinst/debian-edu-amd64-i386-NETINST-1.iso and then tried a german tjener/ltsp installation from USB-stick on an elder Dell Latitude with 2nd NIC on USB for testing purpose.
We edited /usr/bin/edu-eatmydata-install before choosing the profile and had to answer the grub-install-question.
After reboot NICs again were disordered in /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules. 

Editing /etc/bind/named.conf.options helped nameserver to work.
We could log in with 1st user. With then created 2nd and 3rd one we could not. Editing "Password Storage" for these in GOSA from default ssha to sha and re-assigning a password helped.

The propagation times for packages from unstable to testing in Debian
is now enforced to 10 days, making it harder to test the Debian Edu
status.  To work around this, I have set up a new APT source with the
latest version of our packages, and created a preseeding file to

This repo is now used by default with our testing ISO, and there is no
need to enable it manually.  But I have still only built for amd64, so
i386 will lack some packages (currently only our task packages, I
believe).

But the great news is that the installer is no longer broken.  The bug
was not kernel version skew but in apt.  I reported the bug as #765046,
but others reported the bug too as it affected the daily build d-i
images in Debian. See #765458 for more details.

Anyway, this mean you can fetch the latest ISO, use for example rsync
from

   ftp.skolelinux.no::cd-edu-testing-nolocal-netinst/debian-edu-amd64-i386-NETINST-1.iso

and it should work out of the box.  Please test and let us know how it
work for you.

I've now seen the problem where eth0 suddenly become eth1, and reported
the bug as #765577.  I hope the udev maintainers can help us figure out
why udev write duplicate entries in
/etc/udev/rules.d/70-presisten-net.rules

The status as we know it for the next version of Debian Edu is still
shown on <URL: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianEdu/Status/Jessie >.
Please update it and report bugs to bugs.debian.org for problems you
find. :)

I believe we now are ready to publish the first alpha release of Debian
Edu.  For that to happen we need to write a release announcement, copy
the ISO to a location where it isn't overwritten and send out the
announcement.  A draft text is started on

Wheezy alpha release texts for example on what this can look like.
Please help make it complete enough for us to send it. :)
