Bug#102423: apt-get lacks debug level option
apt-get drops undefined tags in /etc/apt/preferences as rightfully
explained by Jason Gunthorpe in counter to the bug report by Wichert
Akkerman. It is still an open bug after 100 days.
I wish this situation to be resolved by introducing something like
"--debug" or "--verbose" options to apt-get and related APT tools.
Currently -q and -qq exist to control verboseness of the program but
there seems to be no easy way for user to select overly verbose
This shall not be a big patch and shall be quite useful feature to
address not only issues like this but also to address any other
non-faital irregularities APT may face.
Thanks for your consideration.
