I'm running uwm/ude with xdm if that is > relevant. I certainly could see uwm being at fault here.... You may want to give metacity, xfwm4, awesome, or whatever else a try. Both xfwm4 and metacity seems to behave as “intended” (as I described: not really offscreen, just aligned on borders). Mraw, KiBi.
