I didn't seriously try to get MergedFB dual-head working; I don't want
dead unreachable spots in my desktop, nor floating viewports.

That one (as well as the need to boot with the LCD unplugged) got
solved for me by upgrading the kernel. Not sure when it started
working, but 2.6.12 works. I get it back if I use "IgnoreEDID" for the
primary device (that serves the LCD).
