While the stuff currently sitting in the repo won't produce a functional
modular server package, I've just managed to build one with this commit!
Many thanks to Daniel for his help in this. Since RC2 comes out in a few
hours, this weekend I'll throw the full tarball in to the repo and make
sure the server itself can be built with what we've got in here. 

But we've got some real progress here and hopefully we'll be able to start
running our own modular packages very soon.
