Re: Bug#279270: xserver-xfree86: Two mouse devise sections cause double speed in kernel 2.6
Hello,
I want to call your attention to this bug:
Bug#279270: xserver-xfree86: Two mouse devise sections cause
double speed in kernel 2.6
see: http://lists.debian.org/debian-x/2004/12/msg00280.html
Was reclassified to wishlist:
> severity 279270 wishlist
Bug#279270: xserver-xfree86: needs an init script to detect reboots between
Linux 2.4 and 2.6 to prevent psaux mice from moving at warp speed
Severity set to `wishlist'.
I think this is more serious. I have found:
Running 2.6.x kernel (debian testing)
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
dexconf
in which I set the mouse to psaux, I get the two
mouse sections in the XF86Config-4 file explained in the original
bug report. This results in double speed, and quite jerky
mouse behaviour.
Note that I am running the 2.6 kernel the whole time, so I'm not
going back and forth on a reboot, as described originally.
For me, the bug might be better described as:
configure of xserver-xfree86 on a 2.6 kernel results in
mis-configured mouse when psaux is selected.
This should at least have a better recommendation in
the text in the reconfigure script, so users who don't know
much better using a generic PS/2 scroll-mouse can make a good
choice.
This occurred on 2 machines (667 MHz P-III, 400 MHz P-II), with
debian testing distributions updated and upgraded within the past
2 weeks.
